Dan Jackson Named To SEC Community Service Team
December 06, 2024 | Football
ATLANTA --- The Southeastern Conference announced the Community Service Team for football prior to the SEC Championship Game to be played Saturday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 22-league sponsored sports, looking to highlight a student-athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts. This year's Georgia recipient was senior safety Dan Jackson.
Dan Jackson, DB, Georgia
Dan Jackson volunteered at Camp Sunshine, which provides recreational, educational and support programs for children with cancer and their families. He worked with kids at the local Boys & Girls Club and gave time to the Thumbs Up Mission, which helps fortify families where a child or parent is battling cancer. He also volunteered for Meals On Wheels in the Athens area, spent time with ESP's Bulldogs & Buddies program, giving back to children after football practice who have disabilities and participated in hospital visitations with teammates.
No. 6 Georgia (10-2, 6-2 SEC) starts the postseason in the SEC Championship Game versus No. 2 Texas (11-1, 7-1 SEC) on Saturday. ABC will televise the matchup at 4 p.m.
