
Verse Named SEC Freshman of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. — University of Georgia women's basketball guard/forward Miyah Verse has been tabbed the Southeastern Conference's Co-Freshman of the Week, it was announced Tuesday afternoon.
Verse recorded her first career double-double and set new career-high marks in points (15), rebounds (11) and steals (3) during Georgia's 83-50 win against Ohio this past Saturday. She was perfect from the field, setting a new career best with five made field goals. The Dayton, Ohio, native played her best in the second half, totaling 10 points and seven boards in the final 20 minutes.
Verse is part of a talented freshman class that scored 53 of Georgia's points on Saturday, with three rookies reaching double figure scoring totals.Georgia's five freshman account for 42 percent of the team's scoring, 38 percent of its rebounding and 47 percent of the squad's steals this season, while two of the team's top three individual scorers are freshmen (Mia Woolfolk and Trinity Turner).
That group has helped the Lady Bulldogs win three of their last four games entering SEC play on Thursday, when Georgia faces Vanderbilt in Nashville.
