ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia GymDogs have announced 11-time Olympic medalist Simone Biles will make a special appearance at Georgia's home opener on Friday, Jan. 17 against Boise State at Stegeman Coliseum.
Single-meet tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online at GeorgiaDogs.com. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m. The Jan. 17 meet against the Broncos will be Olympics Night and Alumni Night. The first 500 UGA students will receive a gray belt bag and the first 300 kids at the kid's zone will get a gold medal.
First-year co-head coach Cécile Canqueteau-Landi coached Biles to the Rio, Tokyo, and Paris Olympic Games. She and her husband, Laurent, are personal coaches to Biles.
"They've been big mentors in like my adulthood (because) they got to see and harness the more mature Simone," Biles said. "They've helped me a lot not just in the gym but out of the gym, too."
Georgia opens the 2025 season begins Sunday, Jan. 12 at the Denver Quad Meet in Denver, Colorado. The Bulldogs will take on host Denver as well as Missouri and Long Island in the season opener. This will be the first season under the direction of co-head coaches Canqueteau-Landi and Ryan Roberts.
