Fischer Named to AVCA All-Region Team

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia volleyball student-athlete Sophie Fischer has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-Region Team for the Southeast Region.
Fischer, a graduate middle blocker from Fort Mill, South Carolina, becomes just the fifth Georgia Bulldog to earn All-Region honors three times in their career, most recently was Nikki Nicholson (1993, 1994, 1995). Fischer becomes eligible for All-America voting. She earned Second Team honors a season ago and will look to be Georgia's third two-time All-American.
Her amazing career in the Red & Black includes 2023 SEC Player of the Year, 2023 Second Team All-American, three-time All-Region honors, three-time All-SEC, and a four-time SEC Player of the Week.
Fischer concluded her career with 1,119 kills, broke Georgia's all-time block assists record (450) and blocks per set record (1.43) and finished third in total blocks (488). This season, her 156 total blocks finished tied for seventh in a single season, and her 146 block assists finished third. She finished third in the SEC with 1.42 blocks per set while putting up 2.91 kills per set, ranking third on the team.
Fischer graduated with her degree in Sociology from UGA in May 2024.
