Pro Dogs Update: KCP Helps Magic To Hot Start

Maten tabbed Player of the Week in Japan

ATHENS, Ga. — Former Georgia Bulldogs who have moved to the professional ranks continue to put up solid statistics, both the NBA and overseas leagues in Europe and Asia.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope has helped Orlando to a 14-7 start, which places the Magic atop the Eastern Conference's Southeast Division. KCP has started all 20 games he's played and is contributing 8.3 points, 2.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.

Nicolas Claxton's season has been hindered by a lingering back injury. After averaging just shy of a double-double for Brooklyn during the 2023-24 season, he is putting up 8.5 points and 7.6 rebounds in 14 outings for the Nets this season.

Anthony Edwards is averaging a career-high 27.7 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are off to a sluggish 9-10 opening to 2024-25 after reaching the Western Conference Finals of last season's Playoffs. Edwards currently ranks No. 9 among the NBA's scoring leaders.

Internationally, 14 Bulldogs are well into their seasons.

Aaron Cook is averaging 11.9 points, 4.4 assists, 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game for ZZ Leiden in Holland. The club has a 6-6 record and is tied for 10th in league standings.

Tyree Crump is contributing 15.3 points, 5.3 assists, 5.0 boards and 1.7 steals for Mighty Barrolle in Liberia's D1 league. Mighty Barrolle is off to a 2-4 start on the season.

Nemanji "Semi" Djurisic is playing for BC Pari Nizhny Novgorod in Russia this season, which is 8-8 to date and tied for fifth in the VTB standings. Djurisic is averaging 11.1 points, 5.1 boards and 3.3 assists.

Mike Edwards is off to a solid start for KK Pelister Sport Bitola, which is competing in both the North Macedonia's PRVA League and the ABA's League 2. Edwards is averaging 14.6 points and a team-high 8.0 rebounds in PRVA competition, as well as a team-leading 15.5 points and 6.8 boards in ABA play. Pelister is 5-2 in PRVA action and tied for third and is 1-3 in ABA group play.

In Turkey, J.J. Frazier is putting up impressive numbers of 19.3 points, 6.2 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game for Bordo Sportive Balikesir, which has a 5-7 record.

Rayshaun Hammonds is leading his Suwon KT Sonicboom squad in and is ranked fourth among league leaders in both scoring and rebounding with averages of 19.8 points and 11.9 rebounds per game. Suwon sports an 8-4 record and is in second place in South Korea's KBL standings. The club also is competing in the East Asia Super League, with Hammonds averaging 21.5 points and 10.5 boards in two games.

Jordan Harris' season stats include averages of 6.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists for Varese in Italy, which is 2-8 on the season.

Jailyn Ingram sports averages of 11.7 points. 5.7 boards and 1.2 assists per game for Tachikawa Dice in Japan, which has a 7-8 record and is in 10th place in league standings.

Also in Japan, Yante Maten was named Player of the Week last week after scoring 29 points and collecting 11 rebounds in San-en Neophoeniz's 110-88 win over FE Nagoya. Overall, Maten is averaging 16.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 62.7 percent from the field for San-En, which is 12-3 and in second place in the B1 Central division standings.

Derek Ogbeide has moved from Slovenia to Israel in the last month and is now playing for Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem. In two domestic contests, Ogbeide is averaging 10.0 points and 4.5 rebounds. The club also is competing in Eurocup play, where Ogbiede has contributed 5.7 rebounds and 5.7 boards in a trio of outings. Yahav is 6-1 and in second place in Israeli standings, as well as 7-2 in Eurocup Group B action.

Veteran Gerald Robinson is playing for Rivierabanca Basket Rimini in Italy and averaging 9.2 points, 3.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds for the franchise, which leads Serie A2 standings at 11-1.

After beginning the season in Turkey, Noah Thomasson has shifted to KK Mornar in Montenegro, where he is contributing 11.0 points, 2.3 boards, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals in his first three games. Mornar is 3-4 on the season and tied for ninth in league standings.

Trey Thompkins has returned to Spain for the 2024-25 campaign, playing with Leyma Basquet Coruna. He is averaging 9.5 points and 3.2 rebounds while shooting a white-hot 68.5 percent from the field.

Terrance Woodbury continues to play in Japan, where his 18.6 ppg scoring average leads the Shinshu Brave Warriors Nagano offensively. He also is grabbing 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Warriors, who are 12-6 and in fourth place in the Eastern Division.
