Paulsell Punches Ticket to NCAA Singles Championships

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga./ROME, Ga./TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Senior Thomas Paulsell advanced to the semifinals of the ITA Conference Masters Championships, three Bulldogs advanced at the ITA Sectionals, and four Georgia players won their opening round match at the UTR Sports College Circuit – GGC on Friday.

No. 86 Oscar Pinto Sansano def. Gabriele Brancatelli (Georgia Tech), 6-4, 5-7, 6-4
              Eight win of the year; second of the tournament

Consolation Singles – Round of 16
No. 28 Ryan Colby def. Alexander Frusina (Auburn), 7-6(5), 6-3
              Ninth win of the year; first of the tournament
Niels Ratiu def. Christophe Clement (Georgia Tech), 4-6, 7-5, 6-2
              Sixth win of the year; first of the tournament

Consolation Doubles – Round of 16
Connel/Craig (Florida State) def. No. 2 Blaydes/Ratiu, 6-3, 6-4
No. 44 Perez Peña/Pinto Sansano advanced to the consolation semifinals via withdraw

Up Next: No. 14 Thomas Paulsell is set for a semifinal match against No. 13 Sebastian Dominiko (Notre Dame) at 10:00 a.m. E.T. in the ITA Conference Masters Championships.

At the ITA Sectionals, No. 86 Oscar Pinto Sansano will face Niccolo Baroni (Mississippi State) in the main draw quarterfinals at 9:00 a.m. E.T. In the consolation quarterfinals, No. 28 Ryan Colby is pitted against Gianluca Carlini (Georgia Tech), and Niels Ratiu will play Javier Montoya (South Alabama). Both matches will be played at 9:00 a.m. E.T.

In the UTR Sports College Circuit – GGC, Filipe Costa will play Rafael Lopez, and Aidan Atwood will play Marcos Castellanos (North Georgia) – both round of 16 matches beginning at 10:30 a.m. E.T. At the same time, Parker Jacques will face fellow Bulldog Parker Mariencheck in the round of 16. In the back draw round of 16, Davis Taylor will face Luka Sauer Jimenez (Georgia College) at 9:00 a.m. E.T.
