Bulldogs Announce Addition for Spring Season
November 08, 2024 | Men's Tennis
ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia men's tennis team will add Georgia native Cooper Johnson beginning in the spring, head coach Jamie Hunt announced on Thursday.
"Cooper is first and foremost a great kid who fits our mold of bringing in high character student-athletes," said Hunt. "He is a tremendous athlete who we see a lot of upside in. We are thrilled he chose to graduate early and join us this spring and we look forward to working with him.
Johnson, from Cumming, Ga., is a five-star recruit out of Windward Tennis Academy. He has career-high recruiting rankings of No. 1 in the state of Georgia and No. 21 in the nation. Johnson holds a Universal Tennis Rating of 11.9 and a 3-2 record against other five-star recruits. He also holds a junior ITF ranking of 3,157 and ITF World Tennis Number of 16.5
The newest addition joins transfer Arda Azkara and January signee Gabriele Vulpitta in the Bulldogs spring 2025 class. On top of 10 returning athletes from the 2023-24 season and two fall 2024 signees, Georgia will enter the spring season with 15 on the roster.
