Bulldogs Wrap Day One of Action at Sectionals and Conference Masters

ROME, Ga./TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Thomas Paulsell and Oscar Pinto Sansano both advanced in their respective competitions on Thursday afternoon while four Bulldogs will move into the consolation bracket.

Main Singles – Round of 32
No. 86 Oscar Pinto Sansano def. Damien Nezar (Alabama), 6-4, 6-2
              Seventh win of the year; first of the tournament
No. 60 Mario Serrano Martinez (Mississippi State) def. No. 28 Ryan Colby, 7(12)-6(10), 6-4
Hugo Coquelin (Vanderbilt) def. Niels Ratiu, 7-6(2), 1-6, 6-3

No. 52 Yunis/van Assendelft (Indiana) def. No. 2 Blaydes/Ratiu, 6-3, 7-6(3)
No. 41 Rihane/Bulte (Florida State) def. No. 44 Perez Peña/Pinto Sansano, 3-6, 6-4, [10-6]

No. 14 Thomas Paulsell def. Azuma Visaya (Hawaii), 7-6(5), 2-6, 6-0
              Tenth win of the year; first of the tournament

Up Next:  At the ITA Sectionals, No. 86 Oscar Pinto Sansano will face Gabriele Brancatelli (Georgia Tech) in the round of 16 of the singles main draw tomorrow at 9 a.m. E.T. No. 28 Ryan Colby and Niels Ratiu will face Alexander Frusina (Auburn) and Christophe Clement (Georgia Tech), respectively. In doubles, No. 2 Blaydes/Ratiu will face the first overall seed Connel/Craig (Florida State), and No. 44 Perez Peña/Pinto Sansano will face No. 39 Benchakroun/Giamichelle (Central Florida) – both in the consolation doubles quarterfinals. Start times for all consolation matches are TBD.

At the ITA Conference Masters Championships, No. 14 Paulsell is set to play against Dimitris Paliouras (Georgia Southern) in the quarterfinals of the main singles draw tomorrow at 9 a.m. E.T.
