ATHENS, Ga. --- Safety KJ Bolden has been included as one of 14 semifinalists for the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award, according to an announcement Wednesday.

Bolden, a first-year defender from Buford, Ga., is one of five players from the Southeastern Conference represented.  While fellow Georgia safety Malaki Starks was a finalist for the award in 2022, former Bulldog tight end and current Las Vegas Raider Brock Bowers was named the winner of the 2021 Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award.

Bolden has played in all eight games this season, starting at safety during the win over Florida.  He has 29 tackles, including 20 solo stops, one sack for loss of eight yards and an interception during Georgia's first eight games.

The No. 3  Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1 SEC) travel to Oxford, Miss., to play No. 16 Ole Miss (7-2, 3-2) Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.  ABC will televise the matchup.
