Day 2 Results

ATHENS, Ga. – An outstanding night for Bulldog freestylers marked the second day of competition for the University of Georgia swimming and diving teams Thursday at the 2024 Georgia Fall Invitational at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

In the women's 200y freestyle championship final, all eight lanes were occupied by Georgia swimmers, with freshman Marie Landreneau leading the pack with a winning B-cut time of 1:43.32, making her the ninth-fastest performer in program history. Junior Ieva Maluka placed second with a season-best time of 1:44.12, followed by senior Duné Coetzee (1:45.00), senior Rachel Stege (1:45.09), and junior Shea Furse (1:45.19) with season-best times.
Landreneau, Coetzee, Stege, and Maluka later joined together to finish second in a highly competitive women's 800y freestyle relay, earning an A-cut time of 6:56.92. Landreneau led off the race with a 1:44.89 split, while Maluka anchored with a 1:43.94. Stege posted the fastest split of 1:42.84. The Bulldogs' B team of Furse, graduate Sloane Reinstein, sophomore Helena Jones, and junior Emma Norton finished third at 7:06.34.
Graduate Jake Magahey earned his second win of the meet in the men's 400y individual medley, touching first with a season-best B-cut of 3:39.56. Freshman Drew Hitchcock placed third with a personal-best B-cut of 3:45.19.
Sophomore Tomas Koski placed second in the men's 200y freestyle with a new PB of 1:31.72, remaining the third-fastest performer in program history. Koski later joined Magahey, junior Cooper Cook, and freshman Will Gavin to post an A-cut time of 6:15.39 in the men's 800y freestyle relay, finishing second overall. Koski led off with a time of 1:34.39 with Gavin closing at 1:34.78.
In other podium finishes, senior Eboni McCarty finished second in the women's 100y backstroke with a B-cut of 51.61. On the men's side, junior Sam Powe placed third in the 100y back with a PB of 45.99, moving up to eighth in program history. Fifth-year Connor Haigh also moved up the program rankings with his sixth-place time of 52.76 in the men's 100y breaststroke final, now ranking sixth all-time.
The Georgia divers continued a solid week as juniors Renato Calderaro and Hannah Stumpf each placed fourth in their events. Calderaro finished fourth on 3-meter with a mark of 351.90, followed by Matthew Bray (5^th – 348.80) and Rhett Hopkins (6^th – 336.15). Stumpf placed on 1-meter with a season-best score of 274.50.
