Football Duo Earn SEC Weekly Honors

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior lineman Tate Ratledge and junior punter Brett Thorson have earned Southeastern Conference weekly honors following Georgia's win over No. 7 Tennessee, according to a league announcement Monday.

This marks the first weekly conference honor for both Ratledge, who is a native of Rome, Ga., and for Thorson, who hails from Melbourne, Australia.

Ratledge graded out at 70 percent and had one pin and one knockdown block during the Bulldogs' victory over the Vols.  He has battled back from an ankle injury and helped protect QB Carson Beck as he connected on 25 of 40 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns.  Ratledge and his fellow linemen surrendered no sacks against Tennessee.

Thorson booted the ball four times for an average of 44.2 yards in a performance that included a long of 53 yards and two balls that dropped inside the 20-yard line.  His showing was highlighted by a touchdown saving tackle in the first quarter with the Vols up 7-0.

Other Bulldog SEC weekly winners:
*After the Bulldogs' week one win over No. 14 Clemson, Carson Beck was the Offensive Player of the Week and Peyton Woodring was the Special Teams Player of the Week.
*Raylen Wilson earned Defensive Player of the Week honors while Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins collected Defensive Lineman of the Week honors following the win at Kentucky.
*Jalon Walker (Co-Defensive Player of the Week) and Mykel Williams (Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week) collected accolades after Georgia's road win at No. 1 Texas.
*Chaz Chambliss was the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week following his showing against Florida.

The No. 12  Bulldogs (8-2, 6-2 SEC) play host to UMass (2-8) on Saturday.  SECN will televise the 12:45 p.m. matchup.
