Georgia Drops 69-59 Decision to Ole Miss

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia women's basketball team fell to the Ole Miss Rebels, 69-59, Sunday afternoon before 3,646 spectators in Stegeman Coliseum.  

Javyn Nicholson became the 43rd Lady Bulldog to eclipse 1,000 career points with her 14-point performance. Nicholson ranks second in the SEC in double-doubles with 11, scoring in double figures in every game this season. 

Georgia (10-9, 1-5 SEC) attacked the paint to start the first quarter. The Lady Bulldogs had an 8-7 lead midway through the opening period as Ole Miss (13-5, 3-2 SEC) stayed within a close, two-point margin to close the first frame trailing, 18-16.  

The Rebels used a 12-0 run to build a 32-20 lead in the second quarter. Georgia trailed 34-27 heading into halftime.  

Four points from Destiny Thomas spurred a six-point run for Georgia coming out of halftime to put the Lady Bulldogs within three, 36-33. Ole Miss answered back with points in the paint to take a 52-46 advantage into the final quarter.  

Ole Miss used 10 points in the paint to close the game ahead 69-59. 

What's Next 
Georgia will hit the road and travel to Auburn, Alabama to face the Tigers on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m.
