September 26, 2023 | Women's Tennis
Templeton, Calif. — After trailing by one set, sophomore Alexandra Vecic completed the comeback to earn a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory over Rasheeda McAdoo in the first round of the qualifying draw at the ITF Templeton 60K on Monday.
Vecic is serving as the lone representative for the Georgia women's tennis team as she earned the No. 10 seed in the qualifying draw.
The Singen, Germany-native produced a battle-tested first set but fell short to lose the first set 6-4. An equally exciting second set saw Vecic take control of momentum as she leveled the match at a set apiece. With the advantage by her side, it was all Vecic in the third as she won the second and third sets 6-4, 6-2.
Vecic has now won eight of her last 12 matches in ITF competitions and will now face No. 3 seed Hanna Chang in the second round of the qualifying draw.
Through four singles matches this season, Vecic improves to a 4-0 record with only two sets dropped while having secured a singles flight title at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic.
