ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia senior cross country and track and field distance runner Charlotte Augenstein has been selected to join Meta's NIL Empower 3.0 program, according to a recent announcement.

The social media giant Meta, which operates Facebook and Instagram, announced the third class of its NIL Empower program, an incubator program aimed to empower female college athletes to maximize NIL opportunities and prepare for life after sports.

Augenstein, a native of Albany, Ga., is one of 30 female student-athletes who will go through the four-month program where she will work with Meta Sports Partnerships team, industry leaders and some of the biggest brands in the world to gain education, mentorship and opportunities aimed to help them succeed in the NIL era.

"I'm so thankful to have been chosen for the NIL Empowerment 3.0 program with Meta!" said Augenstein.  "I'm looking forward to the opportunity to grow my personal brand alongside so many amazing female student-athletes.  The upcoming months will be exciting working with this phenomenal team!"

"We are so proud of Charlotte Augenstein's selection as a member of the Meta NIL Empower 3.0 cohort," said Tanner Potts, who serves as the UGA Athletic Association's Director of NIL and Strategic Initiatives.  "We can't wait to see how Charlotte uses these resources and this opportunity to grow in the NIL space."

The threefold program centers around the following platforms:

Education: "Learn what it takes to build a brand, grown an audience and monetize in the NIL area by participating in five educational workshops led by the Meta sports partnerships team and industry professionals."

Incentives: "Athletes will receive gifting, unlock opportunities to receiver at least one NIL deal, be prioritized for Meta incentive programs and receive amplification opportunities with Meta partners."

Career Development: "Build your network, connect with fellow female athletes and prepare for life after sports by hearing from inspirational guest speakers and having the opportunity to be considered for micro-internships."
