Georgia Cross Country’s Ryan Olree Named SEC Freshman of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. – First-year cross country runner Ryan Olree earned Southeastern Conference Men's Freshman of the Week honors following a sixth-place finish at Friday's Gamecock Challenge, according to a league announcement.

Olree scored for the first time in his collegiate career to help the Bulldogs earn their second team victory in as many meets. The Bulldogs posted a perfect 15 points in the 6k race to place ahead of The Citadel (50), South Carolina State (97) and Claflin (97).

Olree posted a time of 18:10.5 at the meet that South Caroline played host to, finishing five seconds ahead of the next freshman runner. The Denver, Colo., native joined Chase Condra as the second Georgia runner to be honored by the SEC this season. Condra was named SEC Men's Co-Runner of the Week after winning the Stan Sims Cross Country Opener two weekends ago.

What's Up Next: There will be no home meet this season for the Bulldogs. Georgia's final two regular season competitions will be at the Paul Short Run (Bethlehem, Pa.) on Sept. 30 and the Crimson Classic (Tuscaloosa, Ala.) on Oct. 13.
