Georgia Draws Minnesota, 0-0

August 31, 2023 | Soccer

ATHENS, Ga. – After a scoreless 90 minutes, the 22nd-ranked University of Georgia soccer team tied Minnesota, 0-0, before 1,015 spectators Thursday night at the Turner Soccer Complex.

The Georgia (1-1-1) defense kept Minnesota (3-1-1) from finishing any chances as they limited the Gophers to only four shots. The Bulldogs outshot the Gophers, 20-4, including an 8-1 advantage in shots on frame. For the evening, sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Brown posted her sixth career shutout, while graduate forward Hannah White led the Georgia offense with six shots.

Georgia tested Minnesota keeper Megan Plaschko in the first half, ripping 13 shots as opposed to the Gophers' two. In the first 15 minutes alone, Georgia worked Minnesota's backline, taking five shots in the initial moments. White took three of her own, all of which were blocked in the box. Seven other Bulldogs took shots within the opening period.

The Bulldogs' backline put pressure on the Minnesota defense, allowing only two shots from the Gophers in the second period, both of which were off target. Georgia infiltrated the keeper's box with five shots on goal in the second half, narrowly missing a couple of scoring opportunities. White took three shots in the second half, while three other Bulldogs had chances.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch Sunday afternoon when they host Southern Miss at Turner. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m. and the match will be live on SEC Network+.
