Georgia adds Kentucky Transfer to 2024 Roster
June 22, 2023 | Gymnastics
ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia gymnastics team has signed Ashlyn LaClair, a transfer from Kentucky, to the roster for the 2024 season, head coach Courtney Kupets Carter announced.
"We are so excited to add Ashlyn to our team for 2024," Kupets Carter said. "Her attitude and work ethic embodies what we desire in Georgia GymDogs. She will be a fantastic addition to our team. We can't wait to get started with all of our new GymDogs for this season and begin training as a cohesive group."
LaClair completes the 2024 roster featuring eight total newcomers, including Jaydah Battle of Hampton, Virginia, Kelsey Lee of Bradenton, Florida, Zora Morgan of Atlanta, Heather Parker of Rockvale, Tennessee, Lily Smith of Limerick, Pennsylvania, Holly Snyder of Annapolis, Maryland, and Ady Wahl of Zanesville, Ohio. Georgia's 2023 recruiting class ranked No. 1 on collegegymnews.com.
LaClair, a native of Port Crane, New York, competed vault seven times and floor three times for the Wildcats in 2023. She set a career-best 9.825 on vault against Missouri and notched a season-high 9.825 at Ohio State. She was named to the SEC Community Service Team in 2023. LaClair has been named to both the SEC Academic Honor Roll and WCGA All-America Scholar-Athlete Team three times.
"When deciding where to take my fifth year, my heart kept coming back to the University of Georgia," LaClair said. "UGA has a one-of-a-kind athletic and academic reputation, giving me the opportunity to start my graduate education, while competing at the highest level. There is something so special about the GymDog legacy and I am so excited that I get to be a part of it. At the end of the day, what stood out to me the most was the way the team and staff at Georgia made me feel. I immediately felt so welcomed and cared about the second I stepped on campus. I'm fully confident that in this environment, with these people by my side, I will reach my peak in my last year of gymnastics."
