Fischer Selected for USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Georgia senior volleyball student-athlete Sophie Fischer has been selected to join the USA Volleyball Women's Collegiate National Team, USA Volleyball's National Team Development Program announced Thursday.
The team includes 20 of the country's top collegiate women's volleyball players and a staff of seven. The Collegiate Team will train June 18-24 in Anaheim, California, alongside the U.S. Women's National Team as it prepares for the final preliminary round of Volleyball Nations League.
A total of seven student-athletes from SEC teams were chosen for a spot on the Collegiate National Team with two more selected as alternates.
Fischer, a rising senior middle blocker from Fort Mill, South Carolina, was an All-SEC and All-Region performer for Georgia in 2022 and earned an All-America honorable mention. Fischer concluded her first season in the Red & Black as the NCAA Division I statistical runner-up with 183 total blocks.
Fischer helped guide the Bulldogs to one of its best seasons on record, going 23-8 on the season and a third-place finish in the SEC with 13 wins. The season ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
