Abruzzo Named to CSC Academic All-America Third Team

MINNEAPOLIS – Graduate Andrew Abruzzo was named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators Men's Swimming & Diving Academic All-America Third Team, as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
 
Abruzzo was previously named to the CSC Academic All-District Team on Feb. 28. The 2023 Academic All-America Team marks the first year swimming and diving has been recognized as a separate sport in voting. Previously, the sport was one of numerous considered for placement on the At-Large Team. The Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania native is the 42nd student-athlete in program history to receive Academic All-America honors from CSC/CoSIDA, and the first since Courtney Harnish in 2021.
 
Abruzzo, a native of Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, holds a 3.58 GPA as he pursues a master's degree in Business Analytics. In undergrad, he tallied a 3.55 GPA as a Finance major. This season, Abruzzo reached the SEC championship final in the 200 butterfly and posted a top-10 time in school history at the Bulldog Invitational. During his career, he has qualified for four NCAA Championships and earned three CSCAA All-America citations, along with a 2022 SEC bronze medal in the 400 IM. At this week's NCAA Championships, he will compete in the 500 freestyle and 200 butterfly.
