Volleyball Adds Transfer Outside Bianna Muoneke

December 18, 2023 | Volleyball

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia volleyball head coach Tom Black has announced the addition of transfer outside hitter Bianna Muoneke from Texas A&M.

Bianna Muoneke (pronounced b-ah-nuh mo-NECK-ay) is a 6-foot rising sophomore outside hitter from Cypress, Texas. She will transfer to Georgia and will train with the team this spring ahead of the 2024 season.

"We are thrilled to add Bianna to our program," Black said. "She brings a proven track record, exciting athleticism, and most of all a drive to be great on the court and in the classroom. She fit in right away. I can't wait to get started with her as a Dawg."

In Muoneke's lone season in College Station, she earned a spot on the 2023 SEC All-Freshman Team. She recorded 297 kills, 191 digs, 41 blocks, and 17 aces in her 28 appearances on the court, playing in 100 sets. She appeared in all but five sets as a true freshman. She helped guide the Aggies to 16 wins and an NCAA Tournament berth last season. An early enrollee at TAMU last spring, she earned a spot on the AD Honor Roll her first semester.

Her 297 kills and 2.97 kills per set finished third on the team. Muoneke topped the 20-kill mark once (vs. Wright State, Aug. 31) and registered 17 matches with 10 or more kills along with eight double doubles.

Bianna is the daughter of Lenea and Gabriel Muoneke. She has two brothers Muo and Zibem, and a sister Arianna. Her father played basketball at Texas (1996-2000) and her brother Muo is a sophomore guard on the basketball team at Abilene Christian University. She intends to study Sociology at UGA.

Muoneke played her prep career at Cypress Ranch High School and club for Houston Juniors. She was named AVCA First Team All-America, two-time AVCA All-Region, AVCA Best & Brightest First Team, Max Preps First Team All-America, and Prep Volleyball First Team All-America. She guided the Mustangs to back-to-back district titles her junior and senior seasons and was twice named the District 16-6A MVP. She played in the 2022 Texas All-Star game.

Off the court, Muoneke was a two-time academic all-district team member, was named academic all-state in 2022, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. She was a member of National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and National Math Honor Society.

In November, Georgia volleyball signed outside hitter Emma Duffield and middle blocker/opposite Molly Kate "MK" Patten to the 2024 roster. Patten will be an early enrollee and will arrive in Athens with Muoneke to train in the spring.
