Downing Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia senior volleyball student-athlete Mallory Downing has been named to the 2023 CSC Academic All-District Volleyball Team, it was announced Tuesday.
Downing, a native of Winter Park, Florida, will graduate with her undergraduate degree in Real Estate from UGA this month. In her four seasons wearing the Red and Black, Downing has carried a 3.58 cumulative GPA and has appeared on the SEC academic honor roll each season of her career.
On the court, Downing appeared in all 31 matches in 2023, playing in 113 sets. She finished the season with a 1.88 digs per set clip. She began the season as the starting libero, averaging 2.48 digs per set in those matches. Downing concluded her collegiate career with 590 digs (1.58 dis/set) in 373 sets played in 99 total matches.
The 2023 Academic All-District Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field or court and in the classroom. Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December.
