ATHENS, Ga. – A pool record and a pair of A-cuts highlighted a successful second day of competition for the University of Georgia swimming and diving teams at the Georgia Fall Invitational Friday evening at Bauerle Pool at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

In the highlight of the evening, sophomore Ruard van Renen took first in the 100-yard backstroke with an A-cut time of 44.50, moving into second all-time in program history and breaking a pool record set by California's Ryan Murphy in 2016. The Georgia women posted an A-cut of their own as freshman Helena Jones, senior Sloane Reinstein, and juniors Duné Coetzee and Rachel Stege finished second in the 800y freestyle relay with a time of 7:00.14.

The talented foursome impressed earlier in the evening with their performances in the 200y freestyle, with Coetzee leading the way in second place with a PB of 1:43.70, the 10th-fastest time in program history. Reinstein finished third with a season-best B-cut of 1:44.16, while Stege was sixth with a PB of 1:45.07. Sophomore Shea Furse and Jones also finished in the top 10 with personal-best times. In the men's 200y free, freshman Tomas Koski prevailed with a PB of 1:32.75, the fourth-fastest time in program history. Junior Reese Branzell won the consolation final with a PB of 1:33.97.

In the 400y IM, fifth-year Ian Grum earned the win with a season-best B-cut of 3:40.41, while senior Jake Magahey placed fourth with a season-best B-cut of 3:44.04. Magahey joined Koski and teammates Zach Hils and Bradley Dunham to finish third in the 800y freestyle relay with a time of 6:19.99.

At the diving well, senior Meghan Wenzel finished second on 3-meter with a personal-best score of 335.70, while freshman Matthew Bray placed third on 1-meter with a score of 360.95. Junior Rhett Hopkins also reached the evening final, finishing sixth with a mark of 337.25.
