Georgia Falls at No. 13 Kentucky, 3-0

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Georgia volleyball team fell to No. 13 Kentucky Sunday afternoon in straight sets at Rupp Arena (13-25, 23-25, 20-25).

The Bulldogs will return to Athens 15-11 on the season and 6-8 in SEC play.

Sophie Fischer was the lone Bulldog hitter to top 10 kills, recording 10 on the nose. She added four blocks in the match with a pair of service aces.

Bailey Cox led the Dogs with eight digs on Sunday while Clara Brower handed out 26 assists.

The Bulldogs came out strong in the opening set, going ahead 8-4 on the Wildcats. Kentucky (15-7, 13-1) regrouped and went on a 7-0 run to go up 11-8, prompting a Bulldog break. The Cats lengthened the lead to nine after the break and the lead to 13-8. Kentucky kept the momentum, taking the first set 25-13.

Georgia went up 5-0 to begin the second set behind a great Ana Julia Bleeker serving run. Kentucky narrowed the lead to two, but Georgia won three-straight to go back in front five, 14-9 and prompt a Cats timeout. With Georgia ahead 19-16, Kentucky used a 7-1 run to find its first lead of the set 23-20. Georgia won three of the next four points trying to retake the late lead, but Kentucky held on to steal the set away 25-23.

After falling behind 4-2 in the third, Georgia began firing the offense, using kills from Fischer, Kacie Evans, and Ceci Gooch to tie the set at 7-all. Kentucky responded with three-straight to go back in front 10-7. Georgia stayed close on the Cats' heels, cutting it to one three times. The Wildcats began to pull away, winning four of the next five points to go up 21-17. UK finished the match winning set three 25-20.

The Bulldogs return to Athens to host South Carolina and Alabama at Stegeman Coliseum next Friday and Sunday. Friday's match against the Gamecocks is set for 7 p.m. while Sunday's match will begin at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
