ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia graduate midfielder Mallie McKenzie was named to the 2023 Southeastern Conference Soccer Community Service Team, as announced by the league office in Birmingham Wednesday afternoon.

McKenzie has been a vital member of the Georgia team over the past five seasons, appearing in 91 matches, the third-most in program history. In her career, the Roswell native has tallied 21 assists, tying her for fourth all-time, while leading all active players in starts (70), shots (77), and minutes (5,746). This season, she has appeared in all 16 matches with 15 starts, posting one goal and three assists while primarily playing on the backline for the Bulldogs.

During her time at Georgia, McKenzie has participated in a variety of community service projects. This past January, she joined fellow student-athletes for the MLK Day of Service, helping with cleaning and beautification efforts at the Brooklyn Cemetery, one of the first African-American cemeteries built in Athens. She took part in the "Girl Power" event at the Athens Boys and Girls Club, helping to promote fitness and physical activity for area youth. She has also volunteered with the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and Athens Regional Hospital Healing Garden throughout her career.

McKenzie was inducted into the University of Georgia L.E.A.D. Leadership Academy in 2021, working with fellow student-athletes to encourage leadership development, promote community engagement, and assist in preparation for post-graduate activities. She also served as a team representative to the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the 2022 season.

McKenzie graduated from the University of Georgia last December with a bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems and is on track to earn a master's degree in Financial Planning.

SEC East champion Georgia closes its regular season against Auburn on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex. Following Thursday's match, the Bulldogs will begin the 2023 SEC Soccer Tournament with a quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 31 in Pensacola, Florida.
