Torbert Named SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. – Following a career-best performance at Texas A&M, junior midfielder Dasia Torbert was named the Southeastern Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon, as announced by the conference office in Birmingham.
Torbert helped Georgia (7-2-0, 1-0-0 SEC) earn a statement 3-2 win over Texas A&M on Friday evening, contributing to two of the Bulldogs' three goals. Torbert put the Bulldogs ahead for good with a goal in the 69th minute, finishing off a pair of assists from teammates Abby Boyan and Tori Penn. Earlier in the match, the Buford native helped her team go ahead, 2-1, with a terrific through ball to teammate Joyelle Washington, who scored with a diving strike.
With her performance, Torbert became just the seventh player in program history to tally a point in five consecutive matches, while Georgia earned its first victory in an SEC road opener since 2013 and its first-ever win in College Station. She is the first Georgia player to receive a conference honor this season.
Georgia returns to the Turner Soccer Complex next Thursday, Sept. 22, for a matchup against No. 5 South Carolina at 7 p.m. The match will be streamed on SEC Network+.
