Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams Earn Faculty Athletics Representatives Awards

ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia men's and women's cross country teams have been named recipients of the Faculty Athletics Representatives Award for earning the highest team grade point averages (GPA) during the 2021-22 academic year.  
 
This is the ninth time men's cross country and third time women's cross country have won the award since the 1992-93 academic year.
 
The women's cross country team compiled a 3.64 GPA over the Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 semesters.  All female sports teams earned a GPA of 3.00 or higher for the 2021-22 academic school year with tennis (3.44), swimming and diving (3.43), track and field (3.40), and equestrian (3.37) rounding out the top five on the women's side.  
 
The men's cross country team earned a 3.37 GPA for the same fall and spring semesters.  Men's track and field, tennis, golf, and swimming and diving notched spots in the top five for the men's teams.  
 
A total of 172 student-athletes achieved a GPA of 3.50 or better in the fall of 2021, while 185 obtained a 3.50 or better for the Spring 2022 semester.
