ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia gymnastics team has signed Sandra Elsadek, a transfer from Ball State, and Vanessa Deniz, a transfer from Oklahoma, to the roster for the 2023 season, head coach Courtney Kupets Carter announced.

"We are excited for the addition of Sandra and Vanessa," Kupets Carter said. "They both have significant collegiate experience to bolster our leadership in competition and in the locker room. Our roster for 2023 is now complete and we are excited to get to work as a team and prepare for the season."

Elsadek and Deniz complete the 2023 roster featuring 11 total newcomers, including Josie Angeny of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania and a transfer from Kentucky, JaFree Scott of Independence, Missouri, Madelyn Crow of Williamson, Georgia, Sidney Fitzgerald of Evans, Georgia, Nicole King of Johns Creek, Eryn Williams of Knoxville, Tennessee, Naya Howard of Chesapeake, Virginia, Jacquelyn (Jacquie) Moran of Santa Cruz, California, and Ariel Posen of Manalapan, New Jersey.

Elsadek, a native of Venice, Florida is an all-around competitor with career high scores of 9.875 on floor, 9.850 on bars, 9.825 on vault, and 9.800 on beam.  She finished third on bars at the 2022 MAC Championships, is a three-time Academic All-MAC and WGCA Scholastic All-American honoree, and was named the Ball State 2022 Gymnast of the Year. "Georgia has been my dream school since I was young," Elsadek said. "As soon as I arrived on campus I knew this was where I belonged because of the strong leadership and rich history of successful gymnasts that has come before me at UGA.  I'm so thankful for the opportunity to learn and grow here, not only in gymnastics, but in academics and character."

Deniz, a native of Millstone Township, N.J., was a member of the 2022 NCAA Championship winning team at Oklahoma.  She was a two-time Big 12 newcomer of the week and earned OU Athlete of the Week alongside Maggie Nichols.  She earned Academic All-Big 12 with a 4.0.

"After visiting the University of Georgia, I knew this was where I was meant to go for the next
chapter of my academic and athletic career," Deniz said. "I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to now call myself a Georgia GymDog and join such an inspiring team of athletes and coaches, who I know will not only help shape me into a better athlete but also a stronger, smarter, more confident person."
