Anderson Named To CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

ATHENS, Ga.-----University of Georgia graduate outfielder Ben Anderson has been named to the 2022 Academic All-District™ Baseball Team, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The team is selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Anderson, a native of LaGrange, has already earned a degree in biochemistry. He is working on a master's degree in comparative biomedical sciences while serving as the starting centerfielder for the 22nd-ranked Georgia baseball team that is 32-16. He is the 2022 Boyd McWhorter SEC Postgraduate Scholarship institutional winner for UGA.
A co-captain, Anderson is batting .282 with seven home runs, four doubles, four triples and 27 RBI in 46 starts this season. He has had a 31-game on base streak and thrice led off games with home runs including to start the season. This year, he owns a perfect fielding percentage in 119 total chances with one assist. In his career, Anderson has been named a preseason All-American, now a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, and made the SEC Academic Honor Roll and the Dean's List multiple times. He is a member of LEAD, the UGA Athletic Association Leadership Academy and the baseball player council.
As First-team Academic All-District™ honorees, Anderson will now appear on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected in June. The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Anderson made the District 4 team, which consists of student-athletes from Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Puerto Rico. The district teams were announced Thursday by CoSIDA.
