ATHENS, GA.------The No. 17 Georgia Bulldogs return to Coolray Field Tuesday for a game against Georgia State.  First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m., and the game will be available only on the Georgia Bulldog Sports Network.

The Bulldogs are 16-4 (2-1 SEC) after winning a home series against defending national champion Miss. State to open SEC play. The Bulldogs saw their seven-game winning streak end Sunday when MSU salvaged the final game of the series.

Ga. State 44-8 and has won the past six meetings. The Panthers will visit Foley Field on April 26 for a single game. The Panthers have won five straight including a home sweep of Little Rock this past weekend and during this stretch also knocked off No. 15 Clemson in Clemson.

Georgia will start freshman RHP Coleman Willis (1-0, 2.45 ERA) while the Panthers counter with sophomore RHP Mason Patel (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 0.2 IP).

Georgia is batting .297 with 22 home runs on the year while posting a 4.22 ERA and a .976 Fielding Percentage. Graduate SS Cole Tate leads the team in batting at .368 while his twin graduate OF Connor Tate (.315-3-15) is starting to heat up. Connor hit .462 (6-for-13) two doubles, two home runs and six RBI last week. Cole ranks third in the SEC with 32 hits while Collins is sixth in home runs, walks (17) and slugging percentage (.781). Anderson is third in the SEC in on base percentage at .511 and fourth in walks with 18.

In case you missed it Monday, Bulldog junior right-hander Jonathan Cannon was named the SEC Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and third time in his career. A 6-6, 213-pound native of Alpharetta, Ga., he pitched eight scoreless innings in an 11-0 win over defending national champion No. 24 Mississippi State this past Friday at Foley Field. He carried a perfect game to the fifth and finished with a three-hitter, no walks and nine strikeouts. A 2022 preseason All-America and All-SEC selection, Cannon improved to 4-1, 1.83 ERA on the season with 37 strikeouts and just one walk (that was intentional) in an SEC-leading 34.1 innings.
