Haugen Named to Academic All-America Team

December 06, 2022 | Soccer

ATHENS, Ga. – Junior defender Madison Haugen was named to the 2022 Academic All-America Third Team, as announced Tuesday afternoon by College Sports Communicators, the organization formerly known as CoSIDA.

Haugen is the sixth student-athlete in program history to be named to an Academic All-America Team and the first to be honored since Caroline Chipman in 2020. The Cumming native was previously named to the Academic All-District Team with teammates Morgan Hart, Tori Penn, and Taylor Rish on Nov. 15. She was also one of nine Southeastern Conference student-athletes to be named to the team.

Haugen, a Finance and Risk Management & Insurance double-major, carries a 3.94 GPA and has twice been named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll and earned Presidential Scholars (4.0 GPA) honors in the previous two fall semesters. A United Soccer Coaches All-Southeast Region Second Team honoree, she led the team in assists while also ranking second in points and third in minutes and goals—she also led the team with three unassisted goals.

Haugen was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week on Sept. 27 after posting two assists at Florida. She also scored an equalizer against Mississippi State that clinched an SEC Tournament bye, while also posting a goal and assist in Georgia's two NCAA Tournament matches.
