ATHENS, Ga. – Highlighted by a school record from senior Ian Grum, the University of Georgia swimming and diving teams closed strongly on the final day of competition at the Georgia Invitational Saturday evening at Gabrielsen Natatorium.

Both Georgia squads finished third in the overall standings, with the 11th-ranked women tallying 906.5 points and the No. 4 men's team racking up 823 points. Auburn took first in the women's competition, while Florida prevailed in the men's meet.

Grum continued the terrific start to his senior campaign with an A-cut time of 1:38.84 in the 200 backstroke, breaking Javier Acevedo's record from the 2018 SEC Championships and setting a new top time in the nation. Freshman Sam Powe concluded a solid weekend performance with a sixth-place B-cut of 1:41.08, the seventh-fastest time in school history, while sophomore Mitchell Norton placed seventh at 1:41.64.

In the 50 freestyle, senior Dillon Downing won the consolation final with a season-best 42.68.

In the closing 400 freestyle relay, Dunham, Magahey, and Downing joined senior Zach Hils to post an A-cut of 2:50.32, the fourth-best in program history.

On the women's side, senior Zoie Hartman picked up her third win of the meet with a season-best 2:06.97 in the 200 breaststroke.
