Georgia Swimming & Diving Announces 2023 Signing Class

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia men's and women's swimming and diving teams announced four signees to the Class of 2023 Friday morning. The women's team added two swimmers, while the men's team welcomed one swimmer and one diver.
Matthew Bray | Diving | Chantilly HS | Alexandria Dive Club | Fairfax, Va.
Bray dives for Alexandria Diving Club under coach Tim Fisher and for Chantilly High School under coaches Betsy Pettis and James Mackenzie. At Chantilly, Bray earned All-America accolades as he won back-to-back Virginia Class 6A state championships on the 1-meter, following a third-place finish in 2020. Additionally, he set a new school record for the springboard event. He placed 16th on the 1-meter and 20th on the 3-meter at the 2022 USA Diving Junior National Championships, as well as seventh on 3-meter and 10th on 1-meter in the 16-18 boys competition at the 2022 USA Diving Zone Championships.
Tristan DenBrok | Freestyle | North Gwinnett HS | Swim Atlanta | Suwanee, Ga.
DenBrok swims for Swim Atlanta under coach Chris Davis and for North Gwinnett High School under coaches Paul Callis and Charles Daab. At this year's GHSA Class 6-7A State Championships, DenBrok won state titles in the 200 and 500 freestyle, following third-place finishes in both events at the 2021 meet. He placed first in the 1,500-meter freestyle and fourth in the 400-meter freestyle at the 2021 Georgia Long Course Senior State Championships. He also earned two second-place finishes at the 2022 Speedo Sectionals in Cary, North Carolina, and finished sixth in two events at last year's Speedo Winter Junior Championships.
Helena Jones | Freestyle / Backstroke | Wilsonville HS | Lake Oswego Swim Club | Portland, Ore.
Jones swims for Lake Oswego Swim Club under coach Emily Melina and for Wilsonville High School under coach Brett Rodgers. Jones has won back-to-back Oregon state championships in the 100 freestyle, along with a 50 freestyle title in 2022. Along with her victories, she also set Class 5A state records in both events. At this year's Speedo Sectionals in Austin, Texas, she finished third in the 50-meter freestyle and fifth in the 100-meter freestyle. She has previously qualified for the Summer Junior Nationals and U.S. Open, along with earning USA Swimming Scholastic All-America honors.
Annie Wohlgemuth | Backstroke / Butterfly | Ponte Vedra HS | Planet Swim Aquatics | Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
Wohlgemuth swims for Planet Swim Aquatics under coach Gus Calado and for Ponte Vedra High School under coaches Junior Temotio and Kyle Berry. Wohlgemuth, a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, recently finished first in the 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly at the FHSAA Class 3A District championships and will compete in this weekend's state championship meet. Last season, she was runner-up in the 100 backstroke and finished fourth in the 100 butterfly. At this year's Florida Spring Senior Championships, she took first in the 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly, along with top-three finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke. This summer, she took first in the 50-meter backstroke and second in the 100-meter backstroke at the Speedo Sectionals in Plantation. She has also qualified for Speedo Winter Junior Nationals, Summer Nationals, and the US Open, while holding school records in four events and two state records.
