Bulldogs Post Seven Wins on Opening Day of the Jacksonville Classic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of Georgia women's tennis posted seven wins – five singles and two doubles – on the opening day of the Jacksonville Classic, hosted by North Florida.
The Bulldogs opened the morning with doubles play. The 20th-ranked duo of Mell Reasco and Dasha Vidmanova cruise to a 6-2 win over LSU's Safiya Carrington and Nina Geissler, while graduate Meg Kowalski and freshman Anastasiia Lopata defeated North Florida's Jasmin Makela and Kendall Nash.
No. 46 Guillermina Grant and Ania Hertel fell to UNF's Kit Gulihur and Isabel Oliveira 6-2, while Kowalski and Lopata lost to LSU's Maggie Cubitt and Mia Rabinowitz.
In singles action, Georgia posted five wins. No. 26 Lea Ma continued her dominance, defeating No. 46 Kit Gulihur (UNF) 6-2, 6-1, while No. 101 Hertel defeated LSU's Nina Geissler 6-4, 6-1. Kowalski topped North Florida's Annabelle Davis 6-0, 6-4, while sophomore Mai Nirundorn picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win over North Florida's Isabel Oliveira and sophomore Guillermina Grant defeated LSU's Maggie Cubitt by retirement. Lopata fell to LSU's Safiya Carrington in straight sets.
The Bulldogs will continue action at the Jacksonville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 29 with round three of doubles set to begin at 8 a.m. followed by round two of singles.
