TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The championship round of the singles and doubles main draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southeast Regional will each feature a representative from the Georgia men's tennis team, as ninth-seeded Blake Croyder in singles and top-seeded Trent Bryde and Philip Henning in doubles won their respective semifinal round matches on Sunday.

By advancing to the finals in singles and doubles in the regional championship, Croyder earns a spot in the ITA Fall Championships in San Diego, Calif., on November 3-6 in singles while Bryde and Henning did so in doubles.

In the singles draw, No. 9 Croyder will take on the 2021 ITA Newcomer of the Year, No. 7 Antoine Cornut Chauvinc of Florida State, for the title at 9 a.m. on Monday. Bryde and Henning will face the winner of FAU's Nicolas Acevedo and Filip Krolo and Florida's No. 10 Jonah Braswell and Lukas Greif tomorrow morning for the doubles championship.

"Our whole team has shown progress over the fall," said head coach Manny Diaz. "In a tournament like this, it's hard to have every single man with the success that some of these guys have had, but it's especially rewarding for Blake, Teodor, Phillip and Trent to have had such good performances here."

The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the singles draw were completed on the tournament's fourth day.

In the quarterfinals, the nine-seed of the field, Croyder, opened his day against former teammate and doubles partner Erik Grevelius, who transferred to South Florida. The senior won in straight sets in a 6-3, 6-2 decision.

No. 5 Teodor Giusca saw his run in the singles main draw end in the quarterfinals. The Bucharest, Romania native fell to Florida State's No. 13 Youcef Rihane in a three-set battle that came down to a tight third set by a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 score. The senior finishes the event with a 7-3 record through three fall tournaments.

"Very proud of Teodor," said Coach Diaz. "He was just one or two points away from winning his quarterfinal match, but he showed a lot of progress this week."

The semifinals were played on Sunday afternoon, which saw No. 9 Croyder up against No. 13 Rihane for a spot in the finals. Croyder, a Marietta, Ga., native ultimately defeated his adversary in straight sets by an impressive 6-1, 6-3 score.

The doubles draw saw its semifinal match played between the singles quarterfinals and semifinals, with Georgia represented by No. 1 Bryde and Henning. They played against Georgia Southern's Pol Del Castillo and Judson Blair, who was Giusca and Thomas Paulsell's first round opponent. The Bulldog seniors clinched their spot in the championship round with 6-2, 7-6(3) finish.

The event the Bulldogs earned a spot in, the ITA Fall Championships, is considered the top fall event in college tennis, with the top 32 singles players and doubles teams in the sport competing for its championship.

The field is comprised of 24 regional selections, two ITA wild cards and an ITA Cup wild card. The remaining spots in singles is for the Milwaukee Tennis Classic wild card and the four ITA All-American semifinalists. In doubles, the last spots are for ITA All-American champion and finalist and three at-large selections.

The doubles tournament for the ITA Regional event was played in an eight-game pro set format, with no-ad scoring and a tiebreaker at 7-7 through the quarterfinals. The semifinals and finals switched to a best-of-three sets format, with a breaker in the third set if needed.

The main draw singles matches are be played in a best of three set format with no-ad scoring. The consolation draw will be played in the same way, with the added change of a 10-point breaker for the third set.

The event will run through Monday with the singles and doubles finals being played on its final day. Livestreaming of each match can be found on the track.tennis website. Georgia and Florida tie for the second-most seeded players in the singles main draw with three each.
