Bulldogs Advance in Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. — Three Bulldogs advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Southeast Regional on Saturday, during day two of the event at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.
"We had another successful day here at regionals," said Georgia associate head coach Drake Bernstein. "Nastya collected a big win today saving two match points in the third set against a ranked opponent from Georgia Tech. Both Lea and Dasha are coming along well, playing aggressive and confident."
Georgia opened the morning with doubles play. The sophomore tandem freshman Anastasiia Lopata and sophomore Mai Nirundorn squared off against Miami's Audrey Boch-Collins and Mia Mack. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Georgia duo fell 8-6.
In singles action, three Bulldogs posted wins to earn a spot in the quarterfinals. Senior Lea Ma continued her excellent play, earning a 6-1, 6-3 win over Florida's Rachel Gailis. She was quickly followed by sophomore Dasha Vidmanova who defeated Florida's Carly Briggs 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Anastasiia Lopata picked up the final victory of the day for the Bulldogs, topping Georgia Tech's Kylie Bilchev in three sets 6-2, 4-6, 7-5. Nirundorn fell to Carol Lee (GT) 6-1, 6-2.
The Bulldogs will continue play at the ITA Southeast Regional on Sunday, Oct. 16 with two rounds of singles – quarterfinals and semifinals – beginning at 9 a.m. and the doubles semifinals approximately at 3 p.m. Consolation will continue throughout the day.
