The University of Georgia women's tennis team will play host to Iowa, Mississippi State and North Florida for the 2022 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kick-Off Weekend.
Set for Jan. 28-29, 2022, the ITA Kick-Off Weekend usually serves as the beginning of the collegiate tennis dual match season. Across 15 sites, 60 teams will compete for a ticket to the ITA National Women's Indoor Championships slated for Feb. 11-14 in Madison, Wis.
The 15 women's universities playing host to ITA Kick-Off Weekend events were designated as host sites in order of their year-end 2021 ITA team ranking. The ITA held its annual draft Wednesday with schools able to select their destination based on their ranking.
In Georgia's bracket, the No. 1-seed Bulldogs will face the No. 4-seed North Florida Ospreys while the No. 2-seed Iowa Hawkeyes will compete with No. 3-seed Mississippi State Bulldogs in the first round.
In the second round, the winners square off while the losing teams face each other as the squads are guaranteed two matches at each site. The 15 winners of each site advance the national event with the University of Wisconsin serving as the 16th team in the bracket as the host school.
Georgia has been a host site in all but two years since the ITA Kick-Off inaugural season in 2009. The Bulldogs are 22-0 in Athens, and 23-1 overall in the opening spring event. The Bulldogs own four National Indoor Titles (1994, 1995, 2002, 2019) in 31 appearances, dating back to its inception in 1988.

The University of Georgia men's tennis team will host South Florida, Virginia Tech and VCU for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 30-31, 2022.
The selections were made during the ITA Kick-Off draft that took place virtually.
No. 1 seed Georgia will play No. 4 seed VCU the first day. The winner/loser of that contest will matchup with the winner/loser of the South Florida versus Virginia Tech matchup.
The teams will compete for one of 16 spots in the 2022 ITA National Men's Indoor Championship, which takes place Feb. 18-22 in Seattle, Washington. The Bulldogs have won the ITA national indoor title on two occasions, doing so in 2006 and 2007.
