Belisle Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

ATHENS, Ga. – After leading the University of Georgia soccer team to an upset victory over No. 15 Clemson, graduate forward Mollie Belisle has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office in Birmingham Tuesday afternoon.
Belisle continued her career year with an outstanding week for Georgia (5-1), helping the Bulldogs earn wins over Clemson and Wofford. The Atlanta native scored four goals in the two matches, extending her nation-leading total to nine on the season. She was also named Tuesday to the Team of the Week by TopDrawerSoccer.
Through six matches, Belisle has already set new career highs in goals and points. She has posted two-goal performances in four of Georgia's five wins and has helped the Bulldogs score an NCAA-best 27 goals this season.
In Thursday's win over Clemson, Belisle tied the match in the 16th minute before giving Georgia the lead for good with a back-foot goal in the 20th minute. Her two scores helped the Bulldogs break a five-match losing streak against the Tigers and earn their first win over a ranked opponent since 2015.
On Sunday against Wofford, Belisle matched her career high with eight shots. Her first goal came in the 48th minute, followed by a header in the 52nd minute that sealed the Bulldogs' fourth victory in a row.
Belisle is the first Georgia player to earn an SEC honor since senior midfielder Abby Boyan was named Offensive Player of the Week last season following a victory over South Carolina.
Georgia now turns its attention toward a matchup with Presbyterian on Thursday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Turner Soccer Complex. Admission is free and the match will be streamed live on SEC Network+.
