Georgia to Compete in Annual Red and Black Scrimmage

ATHENS, Ga. – After an exciting year, the reigning NCEA National Champion Georgia equestrian team will kick off the 2021-22 season with its annual Red and Black scrimmage on Friday, September 17 at 3 p.m. at the UGA Equestrian Complex in Bishop.
STRONG RETURNERS
The Bulldogs will return 11 starters to the Jumping Seat and Western squads this year. Returning Bulldogs include four All-SEC selections, five SEC All-Freshman riders and SEC Fences Freshman of the Year, Jordan Toering. Seniors Hayley Mairano and Annalise Reed lead the Flat and Fences disciplines while seniors Sara Lewis and Lindsay Guynn return for Horsemanship and Reining, respectively.
PROMISING FRESHMEN
Thirteen freshmen will join the UGA Equestrian squad this upcoming season. Notable riders include Jordan Davis, who claimed the 2020 Level 1 Boxing World Champion Title and Catalina Peralta who won the 2019 Gold Medal to represent the United States in the Junior Nationals Cup Team Event at Deeridge Farm.
20 YEARS OF GLORY
Many notable alumni return to Athens this weekend to celebrate 20 years of Georgia equestrian, including members of each national championship squad. Last year's national championship team will be honored at halftime on Saturday at the Georgia-South Carolina football game.
FALL COMPETITON
Additional fall competitions at home include Fresno State (Oct. 22) and South Carolina (Nov. 13). The Bulldogs will hit the road to compete against Auburn (Oct. 8), Texas A&M (Oct. 29), and SMU (Oct. 30).
