Georgia Announces 2021-22 Schedule

September 14, 2021 | Women's Tennis

ATHENS, GA. – A total of 11 matches against teams that finished in the top-30 last season, including a road contest against North Carolina, highlight the Georgia women's tennis team's 2021-22 regular-season schedule.

The Bulldogs begin this year's slate with a busy fall season. The fall campaign officially begins Friday with the Battle of the Bay in San Francisco, California, and the Fort Worth (Texas) 25K. Georgia is set to also play in the Ole Miss Fall Tournament (Sept. 24-26) and send individuals to the Hilton Head 15K (Oct. 3-11), the ITA All-American Championship (Oct. 4-11), the Florence 25K (Oct. 9-17), the ITA Southeast Regional (Oct. 14-17), before hosting the Georgia Invitational on Oct. 22-24. The ITA National Fall Championship will be Nov. 4-7, in San Diego, California.

Georgia opens the dual-match season on Jan. 22 at North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina before returning to Athens to welcome Iowa, Mississippi State, and North Florida for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend on Jan. 28-29.

"Drake (Bernstein), the team and I are all super excited about getting the season started," said Georgia women's tennis head coach Jeff Wallace. "We have an awesome schedule again, and are really looking forward to playing these fall events, making great improvements in our game, and getting ready for the big spring season."

Following the ITA Indoor National Championships in Madison, Wis., the Bulldogs begin conference play and the month of March at home against the Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Georgia has three consecutive road matches against Florida on March 11, South Carolina on March 13, and Tennessee on March 19.

Georgia travels back to Athens for two contests in late March against LSU (March 25) and Texas A&M (March 27) before heading to Atlanta to take on in-state rival, Georgia Tech (March 30). The month of April begins with two consecutive road matches against Missouri (April 1) and Arkansas (April 3).

The Bulldogs wrap up regular season play beginning with Kentucky (April 8), and Vanderbilt (April 10) at home before two final matchups on the road against Alabama (April 15) and Auburn (April 17).

Florida will host the 2022 SEC Tournament April 20-24 in Gainesville, Florida, followed by the NCAA First and Second Rounds at various campus sites May 6-8. The NCAA Super Regionals take place at campus sites May 13-15.

The NCAA Championships will be held in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois on May 19-28.

Georgia returns five letter winners from last year's squad that posted a 23-2 mark, including 13-0 in SEC play to win the regular season and SEC Tournament.
