July 08, 2021 | Swimming & Diving
ATHENS, Ga. – Following a prolific career in and out of the water, University of Georgia swimmer Courtney Harnish was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team Thursday afternoon.
Harnish is the 27th member of the Georgia program to be named to the All-District Team, and the first member of the women's team to be recognized since Chantal Van Landeghem in 2017. She is also the second-consecutive Bulldog to be honored, following Jackson Ford in 2020.
Over four seasons in Athens, Harnish earned 16 All-America citations, including four First Team marks at this year's NCAA Championships. The York, Pennsylvania native was a five-time SEC Champion, including becoming only the second woman in league history to win three-straight 500 freestyle titles. Additionally, she earned 16 medals at the SEC Championships, including six this season.
Harnish, a marketing major, accumulated a 3.70 GPA, earning her the SEC Women's Swimming & Diving Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award in February. She was a three-time CSCAA Scholar All-American and four-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. She also served as a team representative on the UGA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and was inducted into the Georgia Way LEAD Academy.
Harnish will now join the pool of nominees for the CoSIDA Academic All-America At-Large Team, which will be announced on Friday, Aug. 6.
