No. 3 Bulldogs Down Deacons to Advance in NCAA Tournament

Athens, Ga. – The No. 3 Georgia women's tennis team (22-1) advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament after defeating Wake Forest 4-1 in its final match at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex this season.
The remaining rounds of the NCAA Tournament will be held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. The Bulldogs will take on Virginia who defeated Long Island University and Tennessee on their way to the round of 16.
Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc picked up their second top-25 win of the season, upsetting No. 24 Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth 6-2 on court two. Lea Ma and Meg Kowalski clinched the doubles point for the Dawgs with a 6-3 win over Peyton Pesavento and Anna Campana on court three. The No. 6 duo of Katarina Jokic and Ariana Arseneault went unfinished on court one up 5-3.
No. 55 Ma went up against No. 54 Anna Campana on court two, 6-0, 6-3 and No. 52 graduate Marta Gonzalez picked up a win on court five besting Killingsworth 6-2, 6-3. With all the matches heading for third sets, it would be No. 68 Coppoc who pushed her win streak to 16 after defeating Eliza Omirou 6-4, 2-6, 6-0 on court four. No. 20 Kowalski suffered her second loss of the season, falling to Brylin on court three, 6-0, 6-7(1), 0-6. No. 4 Jokic and Christofi both went unfinished in their matches.
