Moore Earns Second SEC T&F Weekly Honor This Season

May 04, 2021 | Track & Field

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia sophomore Jasmine Moore has named the Southeastern Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this season, according to a league announcement.

This marks Moore's second honor of this kind this season and gives the Bulldogs eight SEC weekly honors outdoors in 2021.  The Grand Prairie, Texas, native was also the SEC Women's Freshman of the Week twice during the 2020 indoor season and was the SEC Women's Freshman Field Athlete of the Year for that indoor campaign.

Starting her triple jump series at the Torrin Lawrence Memorial over the weekend with a mark that would have ranked No. 3 nationally at 46 feet, 1 ½ inches, Moore popped a personal record of 46-10 on her third try to stay undefeated outdoors, improve her No. 2 standing on the 2021 NCAA list and in the Bulldog record books and shoot to No. 4 on the all-time collegiate performer list.

Moore was competing on her birthday in front of family and friends in Athens, Ga., and left the Spec Towns Track with the eighth-best collegiate performance in history.  Her performance also included the No. 24 all-time collegiate performance of 46-2 on her fifth try.  Going into the postseason, she remains No. 2 on the NCAA list in the long jump as well thanks to her 22-5 Olympic standard mark from earlier this season.

Up Next: The Bulldogs train through the coming weekend before traveling to College Station, Texas, for the SEC Championships, which will run May 13-15.
