No. 3 Bulldogs Win SEC Regular Season Outright

Athens, Ga. --Â The No. 3 Georgia women's tennis team defeated No. 40 Alabama 4-0 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex Thursday evening to outright the SEC regular season title.

The Bulldogs captured their eleventh SEC regular season title outright and their eighteenth SEC title overall. This is the first regular season title since the 2019 season.

Georgia improves to 15-1 on the season and 11-0 in SEC action.

Doubles was clinched by the duo of Meg Kowalski and Lea Ma who defeated Alba Cortina Pou and Anna Parkomenko on court three, 6-1. The No. 3 duo of Katarina Jokic and Ariana Arseneault went up against Moka Ito and Loudmilla Bencheikh on court one and bested them 6-1. Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc went unfinished in their match up 4-3.

In singles, Christofi and Ma had two dominate performances for the Bulldogs. Christofi went up against Sasha Gorchanyuk and defeated her 6-1, 6-0 on court six while No. 59 Ma took care of Cortina Pou 6-2, 6-0 on court two, beating her with back-to-back ace serves. No. 1 Jokic clinched the match for the Dawgs with a 7-5, 6-3 win over Bencheikh on court one. No. 12 Kowalski, No. 61 Coppoc and No. 96 Gonzalez all went unfinished on their courts.

The Bulldogs will be back in action against No. 17 Auburn on Saturday, April 10 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. The match will serve as senior day for our departing seniors and graduates Christofi, Gonzalez and Jokic.
