Kelly Truesdell Named an NCEA Distinguished Alumni

ATHENS, Ga. --- University of Georgia equestrian alumni Kelly Truesdell has been named a National Collegiate Equestrian Association Distinguished Alumni, it was announced this week by the organization. 
 
Truesdell was recognized in the category of Health Sciences/Services and currently serves in the role of Assistant Director of Health Promotion and Community Outreach for the University of Georgia. She co-advises the Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board, coordinates campus outreach opportunities for a variety of issues related to Alcohol and Other drugs, and is available for individual educational counseling. Kelly is a part of the John Fontaine, Jr. Center for Alcohol Awareness and Education.
 
Truesdell was a member of the equestrian team from 2009-2012 and graduated with a bachelor's in Health Promotion and a masters in Public Health from UGA.  She was a member of the 2009 and 2010 NCEA Championship teams, selected for the 2012 NCEA Academic First-Team, made the 2010, 2011, and 2012 SEC Academic Roll
 
The Ontario native who currently resides in Athens, co-advises the Fontaine Center Student Advisory Board, coordinates campus outreach opportunities for a variety of issues related to Alcohol and Other Drugs, and is available for individual educational counseling. She is part of the John Fontaine, Jr. Center for Alcohol Awareness and Education and a Safe Space Ally. On top of that, during the 2018-2019 season, Truesdell spent time with the UGA Equestrian team as a volunteer coach for the Reining squad. This Reining team went on to win the 2019 NCEA Event Championship title.
 
"Kelly is an exceptional lady; one the University of Georgia has always sought to retain," Georgia head coach Meghan Boenig said. "From her work as an undergraduate to her masters in health sciences, those around her have seen the value she adds to a program. She travels both the campus and the country speaking about alcohol and drugs as well as advising students. She constantly gives back as you see with her long list of organizations that she is involved in. We are very grateful for her continued dedication to the university and our sport."
 
The 2021 Distinguished Alumni winners will be recognized during the NCEAA National Championship in Waco, Texas in April.
