TULSA, Okla. — The Georgia men's tennis duo of Philip Henning and Hamish Stewart knocked off Georgia Tech's No. 8-ranked Andres Martin and Marcus McDaniel to highlight the fourth day of action at the 2021 Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championship.
After falling in the first set, Henning and Stewart took control of the match and won 4-6, 6-3, 10-4. The Georgia combo advances to the quarterfinals of the main draw, where they will face Tennessee's Emil Hudd and Shunsuke Mitsui.
Henning and Stewart have put together an impressive week. On Monday, they defeated the No. 1 seed in qualifying as they beat TCU's Juan Carlos Aguilar and Sander Jong.
In singles, Georgia's remarkable run came to an end on Thursday. The Bulldogs were the only team in the country to have three players advance to the Round of 32. Georgia's singles players fought through tough breaks during Thursday's action as the trio faced a pair of tiebreakers and a three-set match.
