ATHENS, Ga. — While a few members of the Georgia men's tennis team continue to have success at the All-American Championships, the squad's remaining six student-athletes will participate in this weekend's Bulldog Invitational.
Set to run from Friday through Sunday with a 9 a.m. start each day, the Bulldogs welcome yet another talented field of competition to the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Student-athletes from 12 schools — Auburn, Furman, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Miami, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington and Vanderbilt — will trek to Athens for the three-day event.
This year's format will include four 16-player singles compass draws with each team's No. 1 player guaranteed a spot in the top draw (Magill). It will be best two out of three sets for singles and one eight-game pro-set for doubles matches.
Georgia enters the Invite already off to an impressive start this fall. The Bulldogs have won 13 of 19 doubles matches and have combined for 20 singles wins.
Georgia is the only team with three players to reach the Round of 32 in singles at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American with Trent Bryde, Philip Henning and Hamish Stewart battling for a spot in the Round of 16.
Freshman Thomas Paulsell boasts a perfect 6-0 mark in singles and doubles, while Bulldog newcomers have combined for 10 total singles wins.
Below is a schedule for this weekend's matches.
