QUICK HITS
On the Road Again
Georgia continues their fall schedule on the road at the ITF Hilton Head 15K and the ITA All-American Championship. The Bulldogs will remain on the road until they return to Athens to host The Georgia Invitational in late October.Â
Â
Coaches Comments
"The All-American is a great opportunity and a really good tournament," said Georgia associate head coach Drake Bernstein. "It's one of the top college tournaments in the fall. With a smaller draw size, the competition will be tough. We are really glad to have some matches under our belt, so we can walk in there with some lessons learned."
Â
"Ania and Mai are headed to the Hilton Head 15K. It is Ania's second professional tournament this Fall and Mai's first, but it is in Mai's hometown. They are both looking to make some deep runs," Bernstein said.
Â
"We feel that we have had a great week of practice on the clay (courts)," said Bernstein. "It's different. As we transition, we are learning how to play a bit longer points and be a little bit more patient. It has been great for their development on the hard courts too."
Â
The ITA Field
Morgan Coppoc, Meg Kowalski, Lea Ma, and Mell Reasco will compete against a field that features the nation's top NCAA Division I players.Â
Â
The ITF Field
Ania Hertel and Mai Nirundorn will compete against a field that features 45 professional and amateur players from around the world.Â
Â
**Note: Matches at a professional event will not be counted towards a player's individual records.
Â
Dawgs in the Rankings
Georgia boasts six rankings: A trio of individuals, No. 15 Meg Kowalski, No. 19 Lea Ma, and No. 66 Morgan Coppoc; A pair of doubles teams in No. 42 M. Coppoc and Mell Reasco and No. 50 Guillermina Grant and Ania Hertel. In the fall, the ITA also ranks the Top-10 Freshman/Newcomer, Reasco came in at No. 4.
