HILTON HEAD, S.C. — A 3-over 74 from sophomore Jo Hua Hung paced the Georgia women's golf team en route to a 311 in Friday's opening round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate. The Bulldogs are tied with Alabama and Northwestern in 15th place on the leaderboard at the elite tournament, which features 13 of the nation's top-25 teams.
The Bulldogs also counted a 76 from freshman Candice Mahe, a 79 from sophomore Jenny Bae and an 82 from freshman Caterina Don. Freshman Caroline Craig, who is competing as an individual, posted a 75.
Overall, Hung is tied for 21st, Craig is tied for 33rd, Mahe is tied for 42nd, Bae is tied for 65th, Don is 85th and freshman Céleste Dao is tied for 89th.
No. 7 Wake Forest carded a 287 to grab the team lead following the first of three rounds. The Demon Deacons are five shots ahead of No. 14 UCLA, while No. 1 Texas, No. 19 Auburn and No. 20 Baylor are tied for third at 294.
Wake Forest's Rachel Kuehn is the individual leader after shooting 2-under 69, a stroke better than Agathe Laisne of Texas.
Georgia will tee off first from No. 10 between 8:30-9:10 on Saturday at the Long Cove Club. Live scoring is available via golfstat here.
