Georgia Ranked Tenth in Preseason Poll

ATHENS, Ga. --- In anticipation of the 2021 gymnastics season, the University of Georgia GymDogs are ranked tenth in the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association Preseason Poll, it was announced Thursday. 
 
Georgia will compete a conference only schedule in 2021. All eight teams in the Southeastern Conference rank in the top 20 to start the season.  Florida leads the way as the top team in the nation, followed by LSU at No. 3. Alabama is ranked sixth. After the No. 10 GymDogs, Kentucky checks in at No. 12 with Auburn (No. 14), Arkansas (No. 15), and Missouri (No. 16) following.
 
With one meet remaining and post season on the horizon, the GymDogs' 2020 season was cut short due to COVID-19.  The team ultimately finished last year ranked 12th, with all four apparatuses also ranked in the Top 25- floor and beam ranked seventh and eighth, respectively. 
 
The GymDogs open the season with Missouri on Friday, January 8 in Stegeman Coliseum at 7 p.m.  The meet will be broadcast live on the SEC Network.
