Georgia Wraps Up Day Two of the SEC Challenge

Tuscaloosa, Ala. -- The University of Georgia women's tennis team wrapped up the second day of the 2020 SEC Challenge, hosted by the University of Alabama. The Bulldogs notched three doubles wins and seven singles wins against a mixed slate of players from the University of Florida and Mississippi State University.
Saturday's matchup started off with doubles. On court one, Ariana Arseneault and Katarina Jokic fell 6-2 to Florida's tandem of Marlee Zein and McCartney Kessler. Next on court two, Georgia's duo of Elena Christofi and Morgan Coppoc defeated Tamara Racine and Lilian Poling of Mississippi State, 6-3. Following behind on court three, Ania Hertel and Meg Kowalski downed Sara Dahlstrom and Sydney Berlin of Florida, 6-4. To finish out doubles play, Marta Gonzalez and Alee Clayton would fall in a 7-6(10) tiebreaker match to Mississippi State's Marta Falceto and Alexandra Mikhailuk.
In singles, Kowalski downed Zein (UF) 6-3, 6-2, on court one. On court two, Jokic picked up a win over Racine (MSU) 6-4, 6-2. Following the trend, Coppoc won her match (6-4, 6-3) against Dahlstrom (UF), while Gonzalez followed in her wake by defeating Mikhailuk (MSU) 7-5, 6-3. Hertel's match ended in three sets with a win over Berlin (UF) 4-6, 6-1, 6-0, while freshman Arseneault picked up the second win of her career (7-5, 6-3) against Poling (MSU). Christofi clinched the last win of the day, defeating Nikolaev (MSU) by a score of 6-3, 2-6, 6-3. Clayton fell in a tight match against Falceto (MSU), 6-4, 2-6, 7-5. The Bulldogs return to action at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon against SEC Challenge host Alabama.
